Crafting a logo for a friend’s dance group was a unique and exciting project. What set this apart was my friend’s expertise in the art and design field, enabling precise communication of her vision and understanding of my capabilities. She envisioned a metallic 3D logo with a gothic flair reminiscent of rock band logos or tattoos.

Experiments

While I was proficient in creating 3D type, achieving the desired chrome effect and a luminous, balloon-like shine required some skill enhancement through YouTube tutorials. I conducted an initial experiment using my name to gauge the feasibility of the task.

I presented two design options: The first design featured a condensed, bold typeface with a 3D effect and a subtle blue undertone. The round shapes in the typeface gave it a balloony aesthetic, while the sharp edges conveyed a knife-like quality, especially with this specific typeface. To add the finishing touches, I was tasked with incorporating more sparkle. I strategically placed stars in prominent areas, utilizing the “Feather” effect for an enchanting touch. Additionally, I introduced a light shadow by duplicating the text file and applying an outer shine, creating the illusion of the 3D text casting a radiant glow and enhancing the overall dimension of the artwork.
Final Design

The collaboration resulted in a visually captivating dance group logo, tailored to meet both artistic preferences and technical considerations.
